Meet the Midwife
Greetings,
I’m Aliaja, a Black-identifying licensed professional midwife and the owner of Bearth Side Midwifery. I believe that birth is one of the most sacred moments in life, and I feel deeply honored each time a family invites me to share in that journey. My approach is simple: I trust in the wisdom of the body, the strength of the birthing person, and the power of a nurturing environment.
My path to midwifery began at a young age when I divinely stumbled across a documentary that showed birth in its raw, beautiful, and natural form. It was nothing like the fearful stories I had always heard—stories of pain, complications, and disempowerment. What I saw instead was peaceful, transformative, and life-giving. I realized then that the narrative of birth could be rewritten, one filled with trust, minimal intervention, and true empowerment. I knew I had found my calling.
I enrolled at the Florida School of Traditional Midwifery (a MEAC-accredited school), less than a year after giving birth to my first son. Experiencing childbirth myself was a revelation—it grounded me in the belief that every birthing person should feel supported and respected, no matter where or how they choose to birth.
Over the years, I’ve worked in both bustling birthing centers and intimate home settings. With every birth I’ve attended, my belief has only grown stronger: birth works best when we trust it.
At Bearth Side Midwifery, I am dedicated to providing personalized care that prioritizes informed choice, evidence based care, bodily autonomy, and respect for all birthing families.
If you’re looking for a midwife who will meet you with open arms, open ears, and a heart full of respect for the birth you envision, I’d be honored to be part of your journey.
Warmly,
Aliaja
